The liner notes to the new Frank Ocean Album. Fuck this man is tough as shit. Love!

yes, it’s “nice” that anderson cooper formally came out this week to make a statement to, you know, kids in the midwest or whatever, but how much of a statement are you making when you wait until you’re 45 and your career and position are pretty much cemented? nobody needs to come out, so yes, that’s something, but is anderson cooper a gay superhero? i don’t think so.

frank ocean, on the other hand, is in an industry that isn’t known for being particularly kind to gay dudes. not to mention, from my general understanding, it’s significantly more difficult to come out as a gay black man. to address his feelings in such an honest and open manner is pretty remarkable. it’s not a gimmick or selling point, it’s just a bit of truth to provide context, and the way he talks about love is really refreshing. like it’s just normal. because it is just normal.

frank, who is already producing solid music and just seems generally cool, serves as much better inspiration than anderson cooper could hope to be. so give anderson his people magazine “I’M GAY” cover and let him co-host a fundraising dinner with barack obama, and all that bullshit, and let frank ocean represent real, actual gay people, who are just living their lives and following their heart.
